TRENCHING & EXCAVATING
CONFINED SPACE RESCUE AWARENESS (TECSRA)
NFPA compliant | WSH (Confined Space) Regulations 2009 and SS506:2011 compliant
MODULAR OUTLINE
The Trenching and Excavating Confined Space Rescue Awareness course is designed to provide a fundamental understanding of its operating procedures and emergency planning. The course can serve as an educational introduction to the topics associated with trench and excavating during emergencies for construction workers. In an effort to provide a fundamental understanding of trench and excavating rescue procedures, the course covers the following topics:
The class is designed to benefit all employees that will be involved with trenching and excavation work. The course is appropriate for senior management, safety professionals and field operations directly responsible for the supervision of excavation work and/or safety.
Trainees will gain the skills and knowledge of the confined space work safety activities (PTW, gas detection, roles of the entrants, attendant and rescue personnel) and perform risk analysis to effects a rescue during a confined space emergency. Trainees will also be familiarize and be conscious of using the necessary rescue equipment including self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) to achieve a successful rescue mission and further apply the principles of first- aid in extracting a casualty from the confined space. This course will provide both theoretical and hands on practical exercises, in addition to also create awareness of confined space hazards and the consequences of something go wrong. Their readiness capitalizes quick response to incident shall ensure a successful mission in a confined space emergency and most importantly prevent the loss of lives.
Length of Course: 2-Day Awareness Training (16 hours}
Pre-requisites: All trainees must be certified by a doctor to be in good health.

- Protective system options
- Site securement
- Setting up incident command zones
- Safety in rescue operations
- How to approach a caved-in trench
- How to begin the rescue
- Turning the scene over the Rescue Personnel – What they will want to know.
