- Choosing the Right Examination Course Provider: Your choice of a NEBOSH course provider could make a difference helping you pass the NEBOSH IGC examination. Before choosing a course provider, make findings about the course provider to determine their level of proficiency in the training. Below are the latest results achieved by Singapore Safety Training Centre (SSTC) in Sept 2018 NEBOSH IGC EXAMINATION. The average score for IGC1 at 71%, GC2 at 60% & GC3 at 100% which is higher than NEBOSH’s Average Pass Rates. Our Trainers/Tutors profiles are also readily available. Alternatively, you may get more information from people/past students who previously enrolled with us. Contact our past Singapore Safety Training Centre students or check out feedbacks given by past students (some of which came all the way from Malaysia!). - Wrong Choice of the Type of Training: There are 3 major types of training; Class room training (Full or Part-time which comprises of 11 Days of Classes), Online training and Distance Learning. Here, some people are blinded by cost thereby picking what is not favorable for them. Online training is much cheaper, but it is not for everyone. I will not recommend online training for a non-practicing Health and Safety professional as the guidance by the tutor is essential in evaluating and tracking your progress. Online training and distance learning can be recommended for practicing professionals if they do not have time to undergo class room training but has hands-on experience. At SSTC, we provide quality training at competitive rates. Check out details of our Course Fees at the following link; http://www.ssafetytraining.com/nebosh-igc.html
- Insufficient Planning and Preparation: “No one Plan to Fail, People just fail to Plan.” Planning and preparation are the keys to every success. You need to have a clear plan to enhance your preparation. Make use of past examination papers and understand how the questions need to be answered. This will give you a clue on what to expect in the exams, what you are expected to do and how the questions are answered. Use mind mapping, mnemonics to help you remember what you understand. It’s definitely harder to memorize everything, therefore we highly recommend that you have a firm grasp and understanding of the elements. As what we keep reiterating to all our students at SSTC, develop your own written notes which centres towards helping you remember what you understand for each element. Better still if you could reproduce the notes so as to guide you further during the examination.
- Poor understanding of the NEBOSH examination questions: A lot of students are very happy with themselves after the exams, because they believe they did well in the exams but at the end, the result proves otherwise. Do not jump into answering any question, read the question carefully with understanding, then ask yourself; what NEBOSH’s expectations in this question are. Many students make the mistake of not understanding and more often than not, totally misinterpreted the questions. We highly recommend to pen down your attempt to answer the question via brainstorming first and then systematically formulate and present your answer in a flow which is in detail and concise.
- Depth of your Answers: Every question has different answer depth. When you DESCRIBE instead of GIVE, you are wasting your limited time. When you IDENTIFY instead of EXPLAIN you are throwing away your marks. In general terms, learn and understand all the COMMAND WORDS (as reference below) that you will come across in your exams.
Our parting words, only you would understand what would be the best pathway in terms of your learning rate and progress. Mentally it’s important that you constantly motivate yourself and inculcate the values of the 3Ds;
